Managing affiliate statuses allows you to control which affiliates can actively promote your products and earn commissions. By default, all approved affiliates are active and can generate commissions from their referrals.
Status Types
Affiliates in your program can have one of the following statuses:
Active (Default)
The affiliate is in good standing and can promote your products. Their referral links work normally, clicks are tracked, and they earn commissions on successful referrals.
Suspended
The affiliate has been suspended from your program. Their links no longer work, and they cannot earn new commissions. This is useful for temporarily or permanently disabling affiliates who violate your terms.
What Happens When an Affiliate is Suspended?
When you suspend an affiliate, the following restrictions take effect immediately:
- Clicks are not tracked: Future clicks through their affiliate links will not be recorded
- Sales are not attributed: Any purchases made through their links will not generate commissions
- Leads are not recorded: Lead submissions through their referral links will not be tracked
Important Note
Suspending an affiliate does not affect their existing pending commissions. Any commissions they earned before suspension remain in their account and will still be paid out according to your normal payout schedule.
How to Change an Affiliate's Status
To change an affiliate's status:
- Navigate to your program's affiliate list
- Click on the affiliate you want to manage
- Click the "Status" button in the header
- Select the new status from the dropdown
- Click "Save" to confirm the change
Reactivating a Suspended Affiliate
You can reactivate a suspended affiliate at any time by changing their status back to "Active". Once reactivated:
- Their referral links start working again immediately
- Clicks, sales, and leads will be tracked normally
- Their commission rate remains the same as before
When to Suspend an Affiliate
Consider suspending an affiliate if they:
- Violate your affiliate program terms and conditions
- Engage in fraudulent or deceptive marketing practices
- Use misleading advertisements or make false claims
- Generate suspicious or fraudulent transactions
- Request to temporarily pause their participation
Tip: Before suspending an affiliate, consider reaching out to discuss any concerns. Many issues can be resolved through communication, allowing you to maintain a positive relationship while addressing problems.
